...okay, I don't usually post about politics or such. But I read this article today, about the defense bill Congress is hoping to pass.

It's insane, it's contradictory, and I hope it does get veto'd.

Not because of the amount($622 billion), but because of this bit of idiocy:
The legislation also would deny suspected terrorists, even U.S. citizens seized within the nation's borders, the right to trial and subject them to indefinite detention.

Which yes, just backs up the insanity already going on, but... Aarrrrrgh. I've been watching 'The Pacific' the last while, about the US in WWII, and it struck me that the difference between that and what's going on now, is that in WWII, there was a goal - invade Japan and stop the Imperial Japanese military machine.

But now? With what's going on in Iraq? What's the goal? When does the US say, 'okay, we've won'? Or does it just drag out forever, killing more people on both sides and especially civilians(there and in the US) caught in the middle?
