I'm still looking for an actual title for this thing, but I've got a short project in the works that's kind of an offshoot of a larger, rather epic Egyptian Mythology plotbunny I have bouncing around in my head. Heck knows when that will ever see the light of day, but for now I have at least these two to have fun with.

So without further ado, here are:

( Horus )

Set is the God of Storms and Chaos and Horus is a Sun God. I'm not sure why they turned out half-chibi (they won't be half-chibi in the project), but it works?

The red animal with the blocky ears is the set-animal. Nobody knows what it actually is(although theories range from anteater to donkey), and it may be a mythological or composite animal specifically made for Set. Either way I really like it. :3

Horus’ animal is a falcon, although I couldn’t find good references for its colour. I didn’t really want to make it teal, which was what I was finding, if I found anything, so I made him real-life colours instead - ie. grey.

I was trying a new background technique, leaving out solid ink lines. I think it works. The colour red is very much associated with Set, as it is the colour of danger/blood (as well as magic, though I don’t know that that reference carries here.) There are references to Horus’ eyes being blue, which was probably a literary trope or a sign of his non-human status, and yes he did at one point lose an eye while fighting with Set (it got replaced. There was gazelle milk involved. Oh Egypt), which is why the scarring and why one eye looks different.

Horus is holding a was staff, which is a symbol of power, and has some kind of stylized animal head top. Honestly it looks kind of like a rabbit’s. Set is holding a spear, which is tied to his function in Egyptian myth, namely that he fights the serpent of chaos, Apophis, every night, protecting the sun-barque.

It's not quite like writing fanfic, but mythological characters definitely gives me a lot of backstory to play with. :3
