Afest! KH/FFVII fusion bunny! Stuff!

dogmatixOkay, I should already be in bed, but what the heck. XD;
I am going to Afest in September! Anyone else going? :D I shall have a table in the Artist Alley (Bizarre Bazaar), and so shall be easy to spot; feel free to stop on by.
So, I spotted icedark_elf's KH/FF post earlier tonight, and that reminded me of my own little monster. Which I completely don't have the time to work on, and so is officially free to a good home(s).
Mostly I did this because for the longest time I assumed that FFVII was like all the Disney worlds - canon up until Heartless invasion. Nope. They're kinda cameos, with a wildly altered backstory. Which... just kinda smacks of lazy fanfic. Not that I don't love and adore KH, but, geez, put some effort into it, people.
So, I made exactly two changes to FFVII original-game canon(with some Crisis Core thrown in), and ballooned it out into KH. =^_______^=
Change 1: Professor Ansem Wise works for Shinra (and Hollow Bastion exists)
Change 2: Squall shows up.
Ansem works for Shinra, developing VR and Heartless(canon - Ansem does VR, see Twilight Town). He's in competition with Hojo, who's working on Soldier.
Hojo beats Ansem to the punch and becomes the President's favorite. Ansem is sent to the back end of beyond also known as Hollow Bastion, which is within spitting distance of Rocket Town.
There, Ansem continues his research, and finally delivers his VR project to Shinra, which gives the Soldiers a less expensive way to train. Zack manages to get Sephiroth to give one of the earlier versions a trial run(the kind that still came with visors and avatars, instead of being a holodeck).
Nibelheim happens. Zack and Sephiroth both kick the bucket and Jenova is destroyed, but some bright spark radioed for help when the whole thing started and Ansem gets there with some help from Cid(who lives in Rocket Town), just in time to save Cloud's life. They take Cloud back to Hollow Bastion.
Cloud is not recovering, even though he should be. Ansem proposes trying an experimental procedure on him to strengthen his light and thus his will to survive/fight. This works, for a given value of 'works'. Cloud's light is indeed strengthened, but so is his darkness, to the point where the two split, and Cloud's darkness takes on it's own persona, aka. KH!Sephiroth.
Xeanort(evil!Ansem) goes off the rails and tries to unlock Kingdom Hearts, thus causing everything to asplode and Heartless start to flood into the world.
With most of the top Soldiers MIA or dead, it's a slow, retreating war that eventually falls back to Midgar and takes a few years. Along the way, Ansem Wise figures out that the Heartless are after the Princess in their world, and devises a cunning plan to hide her from them.
Ansem stuffs young!Kairi into a virtual reality world known as Destiny Island, and gives her two protectors based off of existing avatars in the system. Since Kairi is a Princess and draws hearts like a candle draws bugs, pretty soon the hearts of the original users of the avatars start to gravitate in.
Sora = Zack, Riku = Sephiroth. Which also is good for making their incredible skill level make sense. They don't remember it consciously, but they were Soldiers, after all(I mean fer cryin' out loud, they're ~fourteen~(ish), kids just are not that good at that age without years of intense training, seriously)
As to how Sora and Riku got solid bodies when they were kicked out of Destiny Island... uh, the same way the Embryon(Digital Devil Saga 2) got them? XD;; (aka. I have no idea)
Side stuff: Squall got thrown into FFVII world due to a messed up Time Compression(disclaimer: all I know about FFVII I learned from fanfics. Please correct me if I am grossly misusing stuff). He ended up looking like a kid again, but remembers stuff as he 'grows up', so he has basically two memory tracks going at the same time: he lives in the FFVII world when he's awake, then dreams what was happening to him when he really was that age in the FFVIII world.
Which is why he calls himself Leon, to distinguish his 'dreams' from waking life. He's also not really aging, the spell is unwinding, so he gets the scar across the bridge of his nose when he hits the right age. (that always bugged me, how he could have it and not have had the fight with Seifer)
Seifer and co. ended up in FFIX world, also de-aged, where they met up with Vivi. Everyone else from FFIX is dead from old age by then.
Cid knows how to build Gummi ships because he worked with Ansem Wise on the Heartless project(in an unofficial capacity).
Outside of the scientists who make up the first six Org XIII, you have Axel = Reno, Elena = Larxene, Genesis = Marluxia, and I know I had someone for the other three... arg. Rude was in there, I forget as whom though.
And the only scene I have for any of this is Riku and Sora looking at Cloud fighting KH!Sephiroth and Riku frowns at KH!Sephiroth and goes, ".....he's doing it wrong."
